Trailer- SECTOR 7

by: Chris Eaton

Korea might be the capital of awesome revenge flicks (yes, I finally saw I Saw the Devil), but they’ve also been turning out monster films as well.  While Chawz and D Wars are hit and miss, they did give us Bong Joon-ho’s The Host. If you haven’t seen The Host, then you have not lived.  That film set the high water mark for the Slightly Large monster films (they’re not giant monster’s unless they’re as big as buildings). Sector 7 looks to be taking a crack at setting the bar a bit higher.

Directed by Kim Ji-hoon, on the surface, it looks to be the Host meets the opening ten minutes Armageddon. It also seems to have taken liberal sound bites from Aliens as well.

I dig the concept.  Big creepy monster on a oil platform.  While other b films have taken a stab at the material, this one looks like it’s doing so on a modest budget.  Hits Korean cinemas this summer, and I doubt something of his magnitude will go unreleased in the states.  Expect it sometime next year.
