Because they have an ULTRAMAN FESTIVLE! Yes, a whole fucking day dedicated to everything Ultraman. They have a market, shops, photo ops with the Ultramen, A RIDE! A FUCKING STAGE SHOW. A STAGE SHOW, with THE REAL FUCKING COSTUMES! And you know what? Ultraman isn’t the only one that gets a festival like this. It use to be done by Toho for Godzilla back in the day, not to mention that numerous animes also get awesome super swap meets meet Broadway plays like this. Yet we here in America do NOTHING. Oh sure, Disney will do something at the El Captain theater when they have a premier, but we get nothing as close to awesome like this as the Japanese do.
And that my friends, is another reason why they’re ahead of us.
