Why? Because they’ll spend millions of dollars building life size replica’s of their favorite mecha. First, they built that life size Gundam statue and put it in a park in the city of Shizuoka. There’s a life size Gigantor/Tetsujin 28 in Osaka. No, that wasn’t enough. The good folks of Japan are building a life size Unit 1 statue at Fuji-Q HighLand amusement park, outside of Mt Fuji. While not the whole unit, it’s being built to invoke the imagery of the first appearance of Unit 1 in Neon Genesis Evangelion. Still quite the feat in it’s own. If we could come together as a country, and put our efforts in to projects like this, we might just be a better country. Now, lets all get to work on our nations Optimus Prime holding the matrix of leadership over his head life size statue in Grand Rapids Michigan.
