In a bold turn of events, word has been leaked that Spike TV will be announcing the singing of King Mo to Bellator, and shockingly, TNA Wrestling. Seeing as Bellator is moving to Spike next year after their MTV contract is up, they’re taking an aggressive step to promote themselves as competition to both UFC and Strikeforce. As for the TNA singing, it’s well known that King Mo is a big wrestling fan, taking a bit of his gimmick from Jerry the King Lawler. Mo will be the first active MMA fighter on their roster since Ken Shamrock. But, he’ll be the first MMA fighter since the sport took off to participate in two different promotions at the same time. Both Shamrock and Dan Severn have done similar things in the past, both holding the NWA World title as well.
No word yet on Mo’s involvement with TNA. I would suspect he’ll be wrestling for the company while he’s on suspension for failing his drug test, then swing back and forth between the two. If anything, this is a big coupe for both promotions. Bellator needs names, and TNA could use the press and drawing power of someone like Mo. It’s a matter of how he’s used that worries me.
