This trailer, for the Indonesian film The Raid, has been my obsession for the last 28 hours.

It was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival and Sony grabbed it for domestic release. They got Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park doing the soundtrack. The dude who made it, Gareth Evans, is originally from the UK. He married an Indonesian woman and decided to set up his moving making career there. He’s already directed Merantau, which is on Netflix instant streaming, and that film apparently has a similar tone to it.
There’s already talks of an American remake and a direct sequel being made. I honestly don’t give a fuck. I need to see The Raid: NOW! From the glowing reviews it got out of TIFF, it sounds like a modern Die Hard if it were beyond bad ass.
No word on when The Raid opens state side. Hopefully sooner than later.
