Even though this film doesn’t premier for another month on VOD, I’ve already seen it. Where? At the AM2 anime convention in Anaheim at the beginning of the month. They got a chance to debut it there, and it being appropriate since J-Pop star GACKT is the second lead in the film. That being said, I havent’ had a chance to write a full review of the film but in brief: It’s fun. Bunraku is very stylized, and it’s a great concept that might be to heavy for it’s own good some times, but it’s thoroughly enjoyable all the way though. GACKT is hands down the best thing about the film, while Josh Hartnett dose his best as a drifter looking for revenge. Ron Perlman is always good as the villain of the piece, while Woody Harrelson feels like he’s kinda sleep walking though this. Or he’s just real high during filming.
Anyway, Aintitcool has posted the first official trailer for you to peep.

Either way, I’d say peep it when it hits VOD at the end of the month. Bunraku is a film that really wants to be a live action anime. And for the most part, it kinda succeeds at it.
