OBJECTION! Takashi Miike is making an ACE ATTORNEY film?

Wow.  You know, in this day and age, I honestly shouldn’t be surprised by what Takashi Miike dose.  The man has proven himself to be a jack of all trades.  From Ichi the Killer, to his gangster films, the Bird People of China and even Ultraman Max and the Great Yokai War, the man has done everything imaginable.  I still to this day wonder how in the hell he films more than 3 movies a year.  His current film, 13 Assassins is currently in theaters and On Demand here in the states.  He followed up that period piece with Hara-Kirii, which looks awesome.  So what’s left for the man to do?

Make a video game film.

Word out of Cannes, where Hara-Kiri is playing, Miike told the press that his next film will be an court room film based on a popular Nintendo DS film.  And, if you put two and two together, Takashi Miike is making a fucking Ace Attorney film!

Yes.. he’s making this.

The game has a large following in both Japan and the States.  Published by Capcom, the first series follows rookie attorney Phoenix Wright has he investigates the crimes by his clients and then defend them in court.  It’s basically playing a kid friendly version of Law and Order… except with out all the rape.  If you’ve hit up an anime convention in the last 5 years your sure to have seen Phoenix Wright cosplayers with large word balloons that say Objection in bold font connected to them.  That one of the high points of the game.   If I know my Miike, Objection will attack the screen like a word bubble from the Adam West Batman show.

It’s weird as hell, but then again, this is Takashi Miike we’re talking about.  The man has made a career on bazaar films.  Don’t believe me, watch Visitor Q and tell me I’m wrong.
